Who is RodeoCPG?

We are a small, growing team of people from both grocery and tech backgrounds who are working to meld technology and CPG expertise into a first-of-its-kind vertically integrated sales solution for better-for-you brands.

We believe that there is no intelligent and comprehensive infrastructure to sell brands into retail that meets the demands of today’s rapidly changing landscape. We believe it is important to study and anticipate the future of grocery, not simply react defensively to it. We believe that building a quality product requires listening to our colleagues and customers. These beliefs drive us toward achieving our mission of helping better-for-you brands take market share from worse-for-you incumbent brands.

We are passionate about helping to shape the future of grocery. We love better-for-you products and enjoy spending time with their founding teams. We are interested in discovering, and helping to develop, practical use cases for technology to improve outcomes for better-for-you products. We thrive in an entrepreneurial environment and prefer transparency and asynchronous work over endless meetings.

The Opportunity

The Director of Sales works in collaboration with the entire sales team. In this role, you will establish relationships with key retailers and distributors, execute critical selling initiatives, and communicate the results to both the RodeoCPG team and clients, leveraging our tech platforms. Our small but mighty team utilizes best-in-class tools and technology and this role requires a willingness to dig in and learn new things in a supportive and collaborative environment. This is an opportunity to work with some of the most dynamic and impressive founders in CPG. At Rodeo, we champion not only our fantastic brands, but each other, and our secret sauce IS our team.

Working as a Director of Sales at RodeoCPG, you will:

  • Expand and manage retail sales for RodeoCPG partners across natural, e-commerce, and conventional grocery accounts

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key retailers

  • Execute sales goals to influence distribution, ideal shelf placement, and pricing objectives

  • Communicate and strategize alongside senior management, providing regular updates on the steps of the sales cycle from prospect to eventual shelf placement

    • This includes regular updates and analysis in our proprietary software, Pitchable

  • Create strategic promotional programs

  • Achieve sales goals while staying within planned trade spend budget

  • Analyze placement requirements against long term business objectives including calculating and presenting potential ROI on future opportunities

  • Work cross-functionally alongside other divisions/team members at RodeoCPG

  • Attend trade shows and Rodeo team events as needed

  • Leverage autonomy to develop within the role as well as the sales team

You’re a good fit for the role if you are:

  • Experienced managing relationships with buyers at Central Market, Earth Fare, HEB, Publix, and Whole Foods Market

  • Experienced working with natural and conventional grocery retailers (serviced by UNFI, KeHE, Pod Foods, etc.)

  • Maintaining existing relationships and/or contacts with key buyers

  • Able to communicate effectively in meetings and asynchronously (via Slack, email, Pitchable, etc.)

  • Able to manage deadlines and prioritize tasks accordingly

  • A professional working for seven (7) or more years in the CPG space; bonus points if you have experience working at a sales agency or brokerage, or directly for a CPG brand

  • A creative problem-solver with a growth mindset and an entrepreneurial spirit

  • Passionate about better-for-you brands and working with the next generation of CPG rising stars

  • Familiar with reading and interpreting distributor and retail sales data

  • Comfortable traveling on an as-needed basis (about 25% of the year)
